REBEL JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
This years Rebel Nationals was a lot of fun for more than just the adults,
the juniors had a blast too. This years Junior Nationals was a very competetive one. The first day of
races was light wind and very hot. During the second race the wind completely
died and the race committee decided to abandon it. A few hours later, the
wind picked up some and we went back out for a third race. The second day of
races was a little more exciting because there was more wind and it was more a
sailing race than floating. We sailed two good races and went in. There is
never a series of races that doesn't come without some mishaps and this year
was definitely not an exception. The first day, Mike Penn lost his tiller,
but fortunetely he was able to borrow another. Laura Wagstaff's starboard
stay broke, but was also fixable that same day. On the second day, Mike
______'s hull had a hold in it and had to change boats. Luckily all of the
problems were handled quickly and efficiently. The juniors were able to have
successful and competetive races with Mary Vorel and her cousin Tracey _____
in first, Laura Wagstaff and Sam Calhoun in second and Mike Penn and Missy
_____ in third.
We all sat together and talked and joked around. After it was all
over we were all sad to see each other leave to go home.
